Flesh-eating bacteria thrive in a Corexit environment. Reports suggest more than 1.8 million gallons of Corexit were dumped into the Gulf -- despite being known to be severely neurotoxic.
Contractors to BP simply sprayed Corexit on the oil, to make it break up and sink below the surface, even though BP and the US government knew Corexit makes human skin more porous, like a sponge, so that it absorbed petrochemicals.
However, at the time the chemicals sprayed on the oil were not revealed, unbelievably citing "proprietary secrets" as the reason. How in the world is a chemical mix sprayed in large quantities into the ocean considered secret? Only one answer. The facts would be extremely damaging. Perhaps more damaging than messy oil washing up on pristine ecological beaches.
